Message from the Chair:
Greetings and thank you for taking a moment to visit our website!
Independence Day has passed and I sincerely hope you celebrated our nation’s birthday in grand style. Although our country faces huge problems, it is important to remember that with all of our problems America remains the greatest nation on earth.
President Obama visited Racine June 30th to hold a Town Hall Meeting. He was warmly received. I want to thank the Racine County Democrats, as well as the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, for coordinating this very successful event. It isn’t often that a President visits your area and so when this occurs it is important to go all out. Racine did . . . and we thank you!
The candidacy filing deadline for the November elections is fast approaching. I know voters will begin the process of deciding for whom they will vote for come election time. I hope you ultimately decide to vote Democrat when you’re at the polls either in the primary or general elections.
Nationally, voting for Democrats means that the efforts to help people will continue.
Health care has been passed and we need to insure its protection. The stimulus
package has helped the economy avert disaster. Without Republican support, the country
continues to dig itself out of the deep recession we found ourselves in. The recovery
will be slow, but it will be successful in returning people back to work and jump-
Here in Wisconsin, we need Democrats in Madison to continue to fight for people across our state. Although our state has felt the ravages of the economic downturn being felt throughout the nation (and world), we have experienced less effects due to a governor and legislature that has worked hard on behalf of its citizens. Yet, our people need additional help to make sure they do not suffer more hardship. Our people want assurances that a sustained recovery takes place in our state. Democrats in Madison can insure this becomes a reality.
I urge you to get involved in federal, state, and local elections. Stay informed on the issues and the stances candidates are taking. I believe when you do this you will agree with me that voting Democratic is the best way to move Wisconsin and our nation forward.
Finally, work with us to elect a Democrat to Congress in 2010!
Mark Pienkos, Chairman
1st Congressional District Democratic Party -
